YOUTH REC DIVISION SELECTION GUIDELINES

1. Use the guidelines to help you place your child in the correct division.

2. If you are not sure, put the division you think they should be in on the application with a question mark next to the division. We will help place them through the evaluation process.

3. If you want your child to play in a higher or lower division than indicated by the breakdown, you MUST get approval from Jeff Prime, Hockey Director.

4. If you wish to keep children in the same family together, they must play in the division of the highest rated child. Note: This has almost always affected the competitiveness of the team.

DEVELOPMENTAL DIVISIONS

ADAMS DIVISION
Will likely play Friday, and some Saturdays
Age/number of players this past season ( 4/1, 5/13, 6/32, 7/27, 8/11, 9/6)
Average age 6.5 years
MUST BE 4 YEARS OLD AT REGISTRATION

• 9 & over will need special permission to play in this league.
• 7 & 8 years old should be absolute beginners.
• 6 years old should have less than a year of hockey experience and at a beginner level.

* Players in this league should be beginners with limited skating and hockey skills. IF A PLAYER CAN STICKHANDLE, SKATE VERY WELL, OR SHOOT THE PUCK HIGHER THAN A FOOT, THEY DO NOT BELONG IN THIS DIVISION. NO INTERMEDIATE PLAYERS!!!!!!! This is a developmental league with set line changes and mid-rink face-offs.

CAMPBELL DIVISION
Will likely play Thursday, and some Saturdays
Age/number of players this past season ( 6/3, 7/18, 8/34, 9/26, 10/3)
Average age was 8.1 years
MUST BE 5 YEARS OLD AT REGISTRATION

• 9 and 10 years old should be absolute beginners.
• 8 years old should be beginners with limited skating and hockey skills
• 6 & 7 years old should have intermediate skills. (NO ADVANCED PLAYERS)
• 10 and over will need special permission to play in this league

*This is a developmental league with set line changes.

REGULAR DIVISIONS

NORRIS DIVISION
Will likely play Wednesday, and some Saturdays
Age/number of players this past season (7/6, 8/24, 9/30, 10/23, 11/15, 12/4)
Average age was 9.4 years
MUST BE 7 YEARS OLD AT REGISTRATION

• 12 year olds should be beginners. 11 year olds, lower intermediate
• 9 and 10 years old should be intermediate level players
• 8 and under should be stong intermediate to advanced level players

SMYTHE DIVISION
Will likely play Mondays, and Saturdays
Age/number of players this past season (7/2, 8/6, 9/16, 10/41, 11/27, 12/16, 13/4)
Average age was 10.8 years
MUST BE 8 YEARS OLD AT REGISTRATION

• 13 years old should be beginners, 12 year olds lower intermediate players
• 10 and 11 years old should be intermediate level players
• 9 and under should be advanced level players

HOWE DIVISION
Will likely play Tuesday, and some Saturdays
Age/number of players this past season (9/2, 10/11, 11/34, 12/32, 13/26 14/6)
Average age was 11.5 years
MUST BE 9 YEARS OLD AT REGISTRATION

• 14 years old should be beginners, 13 year olds lower intermediate
• 11 and 12 years old should be intermediate level players
• 10 and under should be advanced level players

WALES DIVISION
Will likely play Wednesday, and some Saturdays
Age/number of players this past season (10/1, 11/5, 12/18. 13/28, 14/13, 15/7)
Average age was 13.2 years
MUST BE 11 YEARS OLD AT REGISTRATION

• 15 year olds should be beginners, 14 year olds lower intermediate
• 12 and 13 year olds should be intermediate level players
• 11 and under should be advanced level players

PATRICK DIVISION
Will likely play Tuesday & Wednesday, and some Saturdays
Age/number of players this past season (11/1, 12/5, 13/17, 14/27, 15/16, 16/6, 17/3)
Average age was 14.2 years
MUST BE 12 YEARS OLD AT REGISTRATION

• 17, 16, & 15 year olds should be beginners to lower intermediate players
• 13 and 14 year olds should be intermediate level players
• 12 and under should be advanced level players

LEMIEUX DIVISION
Will likely play on Tuesday, Thursday and some Saturdays
Age/number of players this past season (13/1, 14/14, 15/25, 16/45, 17/31)
Average age was 16.2 years

*For players under 18 years of age when season begins. All players in this league are strong intermediate level and above. MUST BE 14 YEARS OLD AT REGISTRATION

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

1. Approved HECC Helmet, with strap properly fastened
     • Full face shield/cage for youth (under 18 yrs.)
     • Full or Half face shield for adults (full-face shields are strongly recommended)
2. Hockey gloves
3. Elbow pads
4. Hockey Knee and shin protectors
5. Hockey pants, hockey shorts (with hockey socks) or sweat pants
6. Hockey jersey (uniform with whole team)
7. Athletic supporter with cup (for males)
8. Hockey stick
9. Inline skates with no exposed bolts or screws (brakes removed, if any)
